It would be shocking if NHL Seattle didn’t make a play for Gallant this summer, well ahead of its time frame for landing a coach by spring 2021. In recent months, senior NHL Seattle officials had confided the future coach could be somebody like Gallant was prior to Vegas taking him on.
“I was quite surprised actually when it happened,” Gerard Gallant said on Saturday night. “You don’t see something coming like that when you have 2 ½ years in. But I’m not going to worry about the past. I’m going to look at the future and that’s what you have to do as a coach.”
Gerard Gallant was fired as coach of the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday and replaced by Peter DeBoer. "In order for our team to reach its full potential, we determined a coaching change was necessary," Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said. "Our team is capable of more than we have demonstrated this season.
